A Note of Welcome From Mayor David McCullough
As Mayor of Cheatham County, I want to convey my appreciation for the residents who comprise our beautiful county and extend a warm welcome to visitors.
Cheatham County has been my home for 25 years and for good reason. As I drive to work each day, I’m reminded of our county’s natural beauty: the beautiful rolling landscape and the majesty of the Cumberland River.
We are indeed blessed to live in a county unencumbered by the hustle and bustle of larger cities, yet we are also very fortunate to be so close to all the opportunities Nashville has to offer. We are nestled between Interstates 24 and 40, are a 25-minute drive from Nashville International Airport, and have railway access and navigable waterways and ports.
We are indeed “close to everything, away from it all,” as we like to say. We enjoy great schools and churches, strong local and national manufacturing companies, relatively low property taxes, and the most genuine, caring people you’ll ever find.
I’m excited about Cheatham Vision, a new economic, business, and workforce development plan implemented by our Joint Economic and Community Development Board, our Chamber of Commerce, elected officials, and interested citizens.
Cheatham Vision has been strategically developed (and fully endorsed by our County Commission) to grow our county in the areas of Education and Workforce Development, Tourism Development, Industrial Development, Senior Living, and Retail Development. Equally exciting is that the plan will be financed through the Chamber and JECDB’s regular budgets in addition to funds from private businesses in our community. You can read more about Cheatham Vision at www.cheathamconnect.com or www.cheathamchamber.org.
Rest assured one of the main primary focuses of Cheatham Vision is to cultivate, preserve, and protect the natural beauty of our county. We want to share that beauty with visitors to Cheatham County who can bask in all of what “Middle Tennessee’s Playground” has to offer: hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, swimming, boating, and even zip-lining.
Finally, please know that my door is always open. I firmly believe I can only be effective as your mayor if I have opportunities to listen and learn from you. If you have any questions, concerns, or would simply like to talk with me, please call my office at (615) 792-4316, or e-mail me.
