A Message from the Property Assessor Cindy Burney on the 2024 Reappraisal

Our office will be closed July 4th and 5th in observance of Independance Day.

The Certified Tax Rate from the State of Tennessee has been set at
                        $1.5247 from last year’s rate of $2.5976
This does not mean this is the Final Tax Rate.

The next step of this process is for our elected County
                      Commissioners to do the following:

The County Commission must officially determine the Certified
Tax Rate.  If the Certified Rate is sufficient to meet the new budget,
the commission may proceed to ADOPT the actual tax rate of
$1.5247.

If the Certified Tax Rate will NOT be sufficient to meet the new
budget, and the County Commission would need to EXCEED the
Certified Tax Rate then it must be published in the newspaper and
schedule a public hearing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.
