The Cheatham County Board of Equalization will begin its annual session on June 2nd - 6th thru June 9th - 13th. The Board will meet each weekday from hours of 8:30AM to 3:30PM at the Assessor's office located at 354 Frey St. Ste B. Any owner of property who wishes to make a complaint or appeal to the County Board of Equalization must appear before said Board at this time personally or by a personal appearance of an agent for the owner bearing the owner's written authorization. Failure to appear and appeal an assessment will result in the assessment becoming final without further right to appeal.

Cindy Burney is a lifelong resident of Cheatham County. She began working in the Assessor’s Office in September of 1988 and became Deputy Assessor in 1995. Cindy was elected Assessor of Property in 2016. She and her husband Jeff have been married for 36 years, and they have two
daughters, Kayla and Abbey. She and her family are active members of the Ashland City Church of Christ. Cindy strives to maintain a friendly, courteous, and efficient office.
The Assessor of Property is a Tennessee constitutionally elected official who serves at the pleasure of the Cheatham County citizens for a four-year term.
The primary responsibility of the Assessor of Property is to discover, list, classify, and value all real and personal property within the jurisdiction of Cheatham County. This includes conducting a state-mandated county wide reappraisal every five years. Our next reappraisal is scheduled for 2024. This office is also responsible for maintaining ownership records, maintaining tax maps, preparing tax rolls for the county Trustee and all municipalities, reporting assessments to the local and State Board of Equalization, and managing Greenbelt and Forestry assessments.
